Condensation damp is caused by excess moisture in the air meeting cold surfaces. It usually appears in corners, ceilings, and around windows. On the other hand, rising damp travels upwards from the ground, leaving a distinct tide mark on walls. Penetrating damp occurs when water leaks through walls or roofing, often due to faulty external brickwork or damaged gutters.
