How to Spot Wet Rot

Once we have established the presence of wet rot, the treatment process typically includes these steps:

• We pinpoint and tackle the moisture source. This might be broken rainwater goods, elevated ground levels, or leaks in plumbing inside the building.
• A drying regime helps remove moisture in the affected area. This stops conditions that allow fungal growth.
• Decayed timber is cut out and removed per industry safety and disposal guidelines.
• All nearby surfaces are treated with a fungicidal preservative. This helps kill any remaining spores and stops them from spreading further.
• Replacement timbers use pre-treated materials. These meet British Standard BS 8417:2011 for durability and compliance.
